THE BEST TIME TO VISIT CROATIA

The best time of the year to visit Croatia, on the Adriatic coast is from April to October. The temperature of the air in the summer season can be 38°C and the temperature of the sea at that time is pleasent 26° C.
The high season (July and August) offers the clear advantage for the guests wishfull the good time and excitement, but the difference of Craoatian coast offers enough peacefull oasas for the guests who whish a calm holiday.
The March brings Spring sun , but it also can rain.
The early Autum, September and October are ideal for the guests wishfull to rest.
Out of the season the prices are much lower and Trogir region is not so crowded.
In general you can have a holiday in Croatia during the whole year. During the winter you need wormer clothes because of the very unpleasant wind Bura.

 

Adriatic Sea

The Adriatic sea got its name from an ancient port of the same name. The Adriatic spans from the Balkan to the Apennine peninsula.
The part belonging to the Republic of Croatia is the east coast which extends all the way from Prevlaka in the south to cape Savudrija in the west, including all islands, islets and cliffs along the coast, and the archipelago of Palagruza (the number of islands, islets and cliffs is more than 1700). This is a unique area in Europe for cruising with motor boats, speedboats, or sailboats, but also for enjoying the underwater world.

GASTRONOMY

The Croatian gastronomy, especially near the coast and on the islands, has grown on the tradition of natural and healthy mediteranian food, based on the meals from vegetable with olive oil, fish and shells, vine, goat and the sheep kind of cheese, and of the fruits there are agrums, cherry, dried fig and fresh fig, and almonds.
The speciality of Dalmatian kitchen is preparation of food which is specially recommended by the doctors.
The vegetables is coocked in the small amount of water and when is finished get spiced with the olive oil and aromatic herbs, like are rosemary, basil, and marjoram.
The fish can be prepared on the many different ways, can be cooked, grilled and on Brudeto. The meat prepared under the Peka gets special taste.
As the first meal can be offered different kinds of cheese together with dried ham (pršut) and olives. Like desert can be offered fresh and dried fruits, sweets and cakes prepared with fruits, almonds and nuts.

DALMATIAN KITCHEN

The first place belong to the fish prepared on grill. cooked and as a Brudeto, fish can also be marinated or salted.
From the spices the most used are laurel and garlic, and olive oil. The shells and crabs are prepeared on Buzara and dalmatian meet specialities are Pašticada with gnocchi.
The tipical dalmatian sweets are Fritule and Rozata.

Religions: The majority of the population are Roman Catholics, and in addition there are a number of those of Orthodox faith, as well as Muslims, and Christians of other denominations.

Geographical position: Croatia extends from the foothills of the Julian Alps in the north-west and the Pannonian Plain in the east, over the Dinara mountain range in its central region, to the Adriatic coast in the south.

Area: 56,542 km2, with an additional 31,067 km2 of territorial waters.
